Good but not Great
By Gina and Vic
This album is all cover songs. Some of them not so great but any chance I get to hear UFO I'll buy it!

The vocals make these songs sound like originals. Great guitar playing. The Tom Petty song, Honeybee, was unfortunately perfectly timed. But the Trower cover is the best.
I've been listening to UFO since the 70's , they are truly one of the best and under rated bands in history. It's hard to get excited over a covers album, but while it's not great , it is a very good and enjoyable collection of songs. A little hit and miss at times , but worth a listen. This should tide us over until they record another album of originals.
Not feeling it
Granted I grew up with the original versions, as well as UFO with Michael Schenker. But I just didn't feel the soul of some of the originals. Granted the Trower cover was good, Mogg echoing the late great James Dewar more than any vocalist Robin has had since. But to me Rock Candy is just a mess, vocals interjected at odd spots and out of rhythm. None of the viciousness of Hagar and Montrose, nor tight production of Ted Templeman. As much as I'd like to give them an A for effort, more of a B- for blah.
They sound great

Rock candy was my favorite! Others were tight too.

UFO can do anything
I have been a fan of UFO since the late 70s, and over the years, I have waited anxiously for anything new from UFO. It was always great to hear each new release. I am very excited for this release of covers just because these songs will now have a UFO spin to them. I love this first song released. Between Vinnie's incredible playing and spin, and Phil's fantastic voice, I think this album will be another great one. Covers be damned as these sound like new songs just because of their new UFO mix. Can't wait for the rest!
UFO does it again
Holy cow.....UFO does Trower even better than I expected. Cannot wait until the whole album is released.
Although I would probably prefer all new UFO material, this is still going to be stellar.
Phil Mogg is the most under-rated singer/songwriter in rock!
